A Comparative Analysis on Work-Welfare-Life Satisfaction Nexus of the Elderly: Focusing on 28 OECD Countries

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between work, welfare and life satisfaction of the elderly in cross-national perspective. To achieve this aim, data was collected from 28 OECD countries and analyzsed using a Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis. Outcome variable was set as life satisfaction of elderly in 28 OECD countries and elderly labor market participation rate, pension replacement rate, public welfare expenditure on elderly and old age dependency ratio was chosen as causal conditions. The result shows that high labor market participation of older people has to be in combination with stable old age income security and high welfare spending in order to bring high life satisfaction as outcome.
